What Are The Standard Specifications For The Configuration Of Centralized Photovoltaic Energy Storage Systems?

There is no unified fixed ratio standard for centralized photovoltaic (PV) energy storage systems; it needs to be determined comprehensively based on the specific circumstances of the project.

Common Ratio Reference Ranges: Currently, there are two main methods for initial ratio references in the industry:

Based on the proportion of daily PV power generation: The energy storage capacity is generally 30%-50% of the daily PV power generation. For example, a 100kW PV system generates approximately 400kWh per day, and a 120-200kWh energy storage system is recommended.

Based on the proportion of PV installed capacity: The recommended ratio of PV to energy storage is 1:0.3-0.5, meaning 1MW of PV requires 300-500kWh of energy storage. For example, a 3MW PV system generates approximately 12,000kWh per day, and a suitable energy storage capacity is 3600-6000kWh.

Key Influencing Factors: The following four factors need to be considered in actual configuration:

Load demand characteristics: Scenarios with large daytime load fluctuations require increased energy storage capacity, while scenarios with stable nighttime power demand can appropriately reduce the capacity.

Local Solar Resources: Areas with abundant sunshine can reduce energy storage requirements, while areas with variable climates need increased energy storage to mitigate power generation fluctuations.

Investment Economics: Energy storage systems increase initial investment and operation and maintenance costs; the return on investment must be comprehensively considered.

Grid Connection Requirements: Some regions have specific restrictions on the power of energy storage fed back to the grid (e.g., no more than 1% of transformer capacity), and the total user-side energy storage capacity may also be limited (e.g., no more than 30% of transformer capacity).

Configuration Characteristics of Power Plants of Different Sizes:
Small and Medium-Sized Photovoltaic Power Plants: Typically, energy storage is configured at 10%-20% of the installed photovoltaic capacity, such as 1000kW photovoltaic with 100-200kW energy storage.

Large-Scale Photovoltaic Power Plants: A detailed techno-economic assessment is needed to determine the optimal energy storage ratio. Some large power plants may not even have energy storage, relying directly on the grid for regulation.

In actual projects, it is recommended to commission a professional organization to conduct detailed calculations, comprehensively considering local policies, electricity consumption characteristics, and economic factors to determine the optimal energy storage ratio.
